SMPD Investigates Homicide At Pico Boulevard

SANTA MONICA—On July 25, the Santa Monica Police Department reported at 5:21 p.m., a call was received regarding a woman needing medical assistance inside an apartment building in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard, near Santa Monica College.

When officers arrived, they found the woman, who was in her late 20s sustained serious injuries. Personnel from the Santa Monica Fire Department provided medical assistance, but she died at the scene. Forensic technicians and detectives began investigating the death as a homicide.

The victim’s name is being withheld until the family can be notified.

At 8:45 p.m., the SMPD released an update stating that a suspect had been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing, but no new information has been released to the public, including the victim’s name or a suspect.

Canyon News reached out to the SMPD and was told the victim was found in the bathroom of her apartment in The Manor, an adult care facility located at 1905 Pico Boulevard.  It is a care and residential facility for mentally disabled children and adults. The suspect is a male in his late 20s. The SMPD believes he and the victim were dating but they are not certain for how long.
