WEST HOLLYWOOD— A part of Santa Monica Boulevard was closed off due to a 6-inch pipe burst Thursday, July 23. The incident was not far from the rupture from the previous week on Sunset Boulevard.

It has been confirmed by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power that it was a pipe that burst that they were repairing. The water was filled for longer than a block and approached the sidewalk.

The leak happened two miles from the ruptured water break at Sunset Boulevard on July 16. The City of West Hollywood is pleased to announce that Sunset Boulevard reopened to traffic on Friday, July 24, 2026, at approximately 11 p.m., following completion of work by crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) after last week’s significant water main break at Sunset Boulevard and Holloway Drive.
