Delivery Robot Collides With Man In West Hollywood

September 23, 2025 ·

WEST HOLLYWOOD—On September 12, Mark Chaney, a man with cerebral palsy, rode his mobility scooter down a sidewalk in West Hollywood when he encountered a robot delivering food that was acting erratically, blocking his path. Chaney tried to pass the robot, but instead of moving out of the way, it collided with him. The machine cut Mark Chaney off, after which it stopped its movement, causing his scooter to impact the rear of the robot, which then backed into his scooter. Mark Chaney survived the encounter. He later posted a video about his experience on Instagram. He also contacted Serve Robotics, the company that made this robot.
