BEVERLY HILLS—On December 31, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority issued an alert reminding the public that regular construction outside Beverly Hills Station will resume on Friday, January 2.

“Metro is expected to open the Beverly Dr and Century City/Constellation stations in 2026. The entrance for the Beverly Dr Station will be at the southwest corner of the Wilshire and Reeves intersection. This site currently serves as the Reeves Staging Yard for Metro and its contractor,” stated the city of Beverly Hills on its website.

The final extension for the North Canon Drive closure at Wilshire was conditionally passed in a 4-1 vote on September 9, 2025, with no further extensions beyond March 14, 2026. The extension included the removal of a 20-foot wall used as a sound barrier and the restoration of sidewalks

In addition, LA Metro agreed to pay a penalty of $20,000 per day should the reopening deadline not be met. The council agreed upon these dates with the knowledge that construction would likely come to a halt for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day 2026. It will have an additional nine miles of subway service to the Metro’s rail network. When completed, riders will be able to go from downtown LA to Westwood in approximately 25 minutes. The extension is a connection to major job centers such as the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Century City, Westwood Village, UCLA, UCLA-Ronald Reagan Medical Center, and West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. The stops will make stops at tourism destinations, the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) as well. “The project is being built in three sections to enhance safety, mobility, and access along the Wilshire corridor. The Metro D Line Subway Extension expands the subway from Koreatown to Westwood, connecting Downtown Los Angeles to the Westside. BEVERLY HILLS—On Sunday, March 16, the City of Beverly Hills announced the closure of Wilshire Boulevard between Crescent Drive and East of El Camino Drive to be closed from Monday, March 24 until the following Monday, April 7. This is part of the Extension Project of the Purple Line or D-Subway.

The Beverly Hills City Council approved a three-weekend closure to avoid the original 18-week closings that were in the initial plans.

Reports indicate that the concrete deck panels will be removed. Metro requests motorists to use alternate routes and allow extra time for travel.

According to Metro officials, this is the milestone needed for the future of the Wilshire/Rodeo Subway Station that will eventually connect to downtown L.A. to the Wilshire/VA Hospital in West L.A.

The end goal is for the entire expansion project to be completed in time for the 2028 Olympic Games.
