Traffic Collision Leaves One Person Trapped

BRENTWOOD—On Tuesday, September 2, a car collision left one person trapped, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. The incident was reported at 1:11 p.m. at 11740 W Gorham Avenue.

The victim was an 80-year-old female who was initially pinned beneath a vehicle following an auto-vs-pedestrian incident.

The victim was extricated by firefighters and will be transported to a local hospital. The condition of the patient is unknown at this time. The cause of the collision has not been disclosed to the public.

Hit-And-Run Leaves One Injured On Laurel Canyon Blvd.

LAUREL CANYON—On Wednesday, June 4, detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 52-year-old woman severely injured.

The LAPD reported on June 1 around 11:15 p.m., a dark colored SUV traveling south on Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Moorpark Street collided into two parked vehicles on the street, as well as two pedestrians who were standing beside the parked vehicles, severely injuring one of them.

The driver failed to stop and fled the scene traveling southbound on Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived to the scene and transported the severely injured pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment. The other pedestrian was not transported to a hospital and refused further treatment at scene.

The suspected vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is described as a dark colored SUV (possibly blue, or dark blue) with visible traffic collision damage located to the front right area of the vehicle.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

Felony Hit-And-Run Suspect Nehemias Rivera-Menjivar Arrested

SANTA MONICA—A suspect has been arrested connected to a hit-and-run that occurred on Wednesday, September 20, the Santa Monica Police Department announced. Authorities reported at approximately 11:20 pm, officers spotted a vehicle run a red light near the 700 block of Montana Avenue. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers and committed additional traffic violations while driving recklessly for several blocks before colliding with a vehicle at 7th and Wilshire Boulevard.

The driver did not stop after the collision, continuing to drive down the Pier ramp and into the Newcomb Lot. The vehicle pursuit terminated when the driver was boxed in near the Carousel building on the Pier.

The driver, later identified as Nehemias Rivera-Menjivar, 21, from Wilmington, CA, exited the stopped vehicle, and attempted to flee on foot. An officer deployed a taser which did not halt Rivera-Menjivar. After repeated demands, Riveria-Menjivar was taken into custody without further incident.

During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the vehicle driven by Rivera-Menjivar was stolen from an address in Long Beach. The driver admitted to using marijuana.

Riveria-Menjivar was booked for multiple violations including: 20001(a) CVC – Felony Hit and Run; 23104(a) CVC – Reckless Driving; 2800.2(a) CVC – Felony Evading Police; 23153 (f) CVC- Felony DUI (Marijuana); and 148(a)(1) PC – Resisting and Obstructing Arrest

Driver Crashes Into Point Dume Village Shopping Center

MALIBU—A vehicle crashed into the Point Dume Village shopping center in Malibu on Tuesday, July 11, at around 9:45 a.m. as first reported by The Malibu Times.

The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and LA County Fire responded to the incident. Officials found the driver and they were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

According to reports, the driver in the vehicle was attempting to park and instead of backing out proceeded forward. The collision knocked down three pillars that were supporting a roof above a table and chairs.

The shops nearby will be closed for at least three to five hours. Officials are on standby to ensure that parts of the structure don’t collapse.

Collison On PCH Causes Road Closure And Minor Injuries

MALIBU—On Tuesday, April 25, a traffic collision occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Rambla Pacifico Street in Malibu.

According to a witness, a white truck was making a left turn into a gas station and collided with a silver SUV. Minor injuries were reported but it is currently unclear which party was injured.

One lane of PCH is closed in each direction at Rambla Pacifico Street while LA County Fire Department and sheriffs are on the scene investigating. Southbound lanes are merging into one and delays are expected.

The city of Malibu announced the road closures around 9 a.m.
