New City Council, Treasurer Installation Ceremony Beverly Hills

BEVERLY HILLS—The city of Beverly Hills will be hosting an installation ceremony for new members of the Beverly Hills City Council and Treasurer.

The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard.

A reception is slated to follow, with doors opening at 6 p.m. There was a total of three City Council seats up for grabs with 11 candidates running. Current councilmembers Lester Friedman and Sharona D. Nazarian were fighting to retain their seats.

As of June 17, Nazarian leads all candidates with 27 percent of the vote, followed by Friedman with 14.77 percent in second place and Rebecca Pynoos in third place with 14.33 percent of the vote. Currently sitting in fourth place is Andy Licht with 13.44 percent of the vote.

Current members of the council include Mary N. Wells who serves as Vice Mayor, John A. Mirisch and Craig A. Corman who is serving as the current mayor of Beverly Hills. Howard S. Fisher received 100 percent of the vote as the city’s next treasurer as he ran unopposed and received 6,641 votes as of June 17.
