SoCalGas Technicians Conducting Natural Gas Safety Inspections

MALIBU—On Tuesday, June 16, the city of Malibu announced that SoCalGas technicians will be conducting routine natural gas safety inspections in Malibu neighborhoods over the next 30 days.

To complete these required inspections, technicians may need access to residents gas meter. In the unlikely case that a homeowner’s gas may need to be temporarily shut off, the technician will inform them in advance.

For safety, always verify anyone claiming to work for SoCalGas:

-Look for a SoCalGas uniform and branded vehicle
-Ask to see a company-issued photo ID badge
-Authorized contractors must also carry official SoCalGas identification
-If anyone has questions or want to verify a contractor’s identity, call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200.

If a resident smells natural gas, leave the area immediately and call 1-800-427-2200.

SoCalGas works with authorized contractors who may not drive branded vehicles or wear branded uniforms, but they are required to carry an official photo identification badge that verifies their affiliation with SoCalGas.
