SANTA MONICA—On Tuesday, December 2, the Los Angeles County Supervisors met and voted 4 to 0 to pass an ordinance that bans law enforcement officers from being able to wear a mask or in any other item that allows the concealment of their identity while conducting operations. The ordinance applies to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and unincorporated areas of the county. The ordinance will require that all law enforcement officers wear visible identification that lists the name of the agency and either their badge number or their last name when they interact with the public. In addition, this ordinance is Title 13 of the Los Angeles County Code, and applies to local, state, and federal agents. Before the ordinance can become law, it must be voted for a second time in the upcoming week by the Los Angeles County Supervisors  on December 9. If it is approved, it will go into effect 30 days after the second vote.   By Daniel Diquinzio
