MALIBU—The city of Malibu will hold weekly tests of its Everbridge Disaster Notification System, which it has used for several years for life threatening emergencies and evacuations, in September for National Preparedness Month. The next test is Thursday, September 10, 5 p.m. – MAL-C112: Central Malibu.

The city is working hard to prepare – and help residents and businesses be ready – for wildfires, earthquakes, and other disasters. Malibu will conduct Everbridge Disaster Notification System tests in September to a different Malibu Evacuation Zone each week.

Thursday, September 10, 5 p.m. – Zone MAL-C112: Central Malibu
Thursday, September 17, 5 p.m. – Zone MAL-C113: Western Malibu
Thursday, September 24, 5 p.m. – Zone MAL-C114: Far Western Malibu

No sign-up is required for Everbridge, most Malibu copper landlines and cell phones are automatically entered into the Everbridge system. Residents and businesses can create a profile to add additional contact information, street addresses, or secondary phone numbers at: www.MalibuCity.org/DisasterNotifications.

To look up one’s Evacuation Zone visit: www.MalibuCity.org/Evac, and monitor Genasys Protect, the emergency and evacuation information site used by LA County, at: https://Protect.Genasys.com/Search.

Anyone wanting help with Everbridge, or if they do not receive a test message can contact the Public Safety Department at PublicSafety@MalibuCity.org or call 310-456-2489.
