Beverly Hills Swearing-In Chief Of Police Max Subin

BEVERLY HILLS—On Monday, August 10, the Beverly Hills City Council and the Beverly Hills Police Department is inviting the public to the Swearing-In of the BHPD’s newest Chief of Police Max Subin.

The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Beverly Hills City Hall, the Crescent side of City Hall located at 455 N. Rexford Dr. There will be complimentary parking at 450 N. Crescent Dr. and 450 N. Rexford Drive.

On June 23, the city of Beverly Hills announced that Captain Max Subin, a 27-year veteran of the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) was promoted to Chief of Police effective starting June 27.

“I am very pleased that Max will be leading the department he has served for almost three decades,” said incoming City Manager Ryan Gohlich. “Max has built incredibly strong relationships throughout Beverly Hills and, as a longtime member of the department, shares our community values and understands what makes BHPD so special.”

Subin joined the BHPD in 1999 and has held positions in Patrol, Crime Suppression, the Detective Bureau, Community Relations and the Professional Standards unit. He was named a Captain in 2021 and currently oversees the Administrative Services Division which includes Personnel, Records, Communications and Budget.

“I am thankful to Ryan, the City Council, members of BHPD and the community for the support and trust they have placed in me,” said Subin. “I am proud and humbled to work with the dedicated members of this department and pledge that the safety of this City will always be priority number one.”

As the city’s newest Police Chief, Subin will lead a department of 154 sworn and 112 civilian staff. Subin succeeds Chief Mark Stainbrook who is retiring on Friday, June 26 after almost five years with the city of Beverly Hills.
