Paragliders Rescued Near Malibu After Crashing Into Water

MALIBU—On Friday, December 19, two paragliders were rescued after crashing into the water near Carbon Beach in Malibu by a pair of deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Christopher Matkin and Sevak Grigoryan.

The pair of paragliders, a man and a woman, after the weather went from clear skies to fog causing the paragliders to crash into the water. The weight of their equipment caused them to start to struggle in the water, and they called out for help.

Deputies Matkin and Grigoryan heard the cries and responded. After entering the water, they used knives to cut the paragliders free. The victims thanked the deputies, and the paragliders were treated at the scene and later released. No additional details about the case have been disclosed to the public.
