MALIBU—On Wednesday, July 9, the city of Malibu posted on its Facebook page that Reflective Fire Hydrant Markers are helping to assist firefighters locate fire hydrants in emergencies.

When firefighters are attempting to locate a fire hydrant in low visibility, they rely on blue reflective dots placed in the street adjacent to fire hydrants.

They get worn down or dislodged over time and often don’t get reinstalled. The City’s Fire Safety Liaisons assist in replacing these on public streets, but need permission to replace them on private streets.

Residents who would like to have the hydrant markers replaced on their private street should have their Homeowners Association contact Fire Safety Liaison Gabe Etcheverry at getcheverry@malibucity.org or call 310-456-2489, ext. 388.
