Traffic Stop In Santa Monica Leads To Firearm Arrest

SANTA MONICA—On July 16, the Santa Monica Police Department announced at 11:25 p.m. on July 6, a traffic stop near the 300 block of Pico Boulevard resulted in an arrest for a loaded firearm.

After officers observed a traffic offense, they pulled the vehicle over. During the stop, they discovered a loaded Glock 22 concealed in the waistband of the passenger in the front seat. They also found that a round was ready to be fired. The weapon had an extended magazine containing 21 rounds.

The passenger possessed marijuana and a black ski mask. Officers issued a citation to the driver for violating city traffic regulations, and the passenger was arrested and charged in connection with the weapon found in the vehicle.
