BHPD Gearing Up For National Night Out August 5

BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Police Department is spreading the word about National Night Out, which will be held on Tuesday, August 5. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the 400 block of North Rexford Drive. Parking will be free after 5 p.m. at the Rexford/Civic Center Parking Structure (450 N. Rexford Dr.)

The BHPD in partnership with the Beverly Hills Fire Department and other Ccty departments, invites the community to a citywide celebration of public safety and community partnerships.

The 400 Block of N. Rexford Dr. will be closed from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. A soft closure will begin as early as 12 p.m., in which traffic within the event area will be impacted.

The evening will transform the 400 Block of N. Rexford Drive, in front of the Beverly Hills Public Library and Fire Department, into a vibrant block party. Community members of all ages are welcome to attend the free event that features live music by DJ Keybo, food trucks, and a host of engaging activities.

Highlights include:

-Police Training/Scenario Simulator (Force Options Simulator)
-Face Painting & Balloon Art
-Kids Playhouse & Slides
-Meet & Greet with BHPD K-9s and Support K-9 Nami
-Interactive Demos, Games, and the RTWC Drone Display
-Meet Your 911 Dispatchers

“This event brings our department and community together in a truly meaningful way,” said Chief Mark G. Stainbrook. “National Night Out is a celebration of the relationships we’ve built with the greater community, and a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to public safety and partnership.”

Participating agencies include the Beverly Hills Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, CERT, JUST IN CASE BH, the Beverly Hills CPR program, the Drug Awareness Foundation, and more.

West Hollywood Participating In National Night Out

WEST HOLLYWOOD—The city of West Hollywood will be participating in the National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 5.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. It provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

National Night Out was introduced in August 1984 through an already established network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states.

Those participating in the event include:

-West Hollywood West Resident Association — 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The cul-de-sac at Sherbourne Dr. and Ashcroft Ave.

-West Hollywood Heights Neighborhood Association — 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

-Cynthia-Sunset Neighborhood Watch — 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

-WeHo East Neighborhood Watch — 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Malibu/LASD Lost Hills Station Partaking In National Night Out

MALIBU—On July 31, the city of Malibu announced on its Facebook page that the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station Deputies will participate on Tuesday, August 6, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Forest Cove Park in Agoura Hills for National Night Out.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances, as described on the National Night Out website.

National Night Out transpires across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more. NNO was started in August 1984.

The city of Malibu noted there will be fun for the whole family and the opportunity for the public to get to know their local law enforcement from Malibu/Lost Hills Station, learn about crime and public safety issues.

BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) will be celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6. The event for 2024 will shine a spotlight on the BHPD’s motor unit, recognizing their vital role in keeping our community safe and secure. National Night Out is a campaign that fosters police and community partnerships and promotes neighborhood camaraderie.

The celebration will occur from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the 400 block of N. Rexford Dr., in front of the Beverly Hills Library and BHFD. The motor demonstration will happen at 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m., attendees will witness a captivating motor demonstration showcasing the extraordinary skills and abilities of these remarkable officers.

National Night Out will feature displays from various BHPD departments, including the SWAT Team, Real Time Watch Center Drones, Mobile Command Center, Beverly Hills Fire Department, and various other departments of the City of Beverly Hills. Food trucks, games, and family-friendly activities will add to the festive atmosphere, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all.

“National Night Out is always an event our community looks forward to,” said Beverly Hills Mayor Lester Friedman. “It’s the perfect opportunity to see what our incredible public safety team does day in and day out, and we invite everyone to come and meet all the men and women working to keep Beverly Hills safe.”

Admission to National Night Out is free, and free parking will be available at the Civic Center Parking Garage after 5 p.m. We will also validate parking as required. Attendees are encouraged to use the official hashtags #NNO90210 and #Motors90210 in their social media posts.

WeHo Celebrates National Night Out August 1

WEST HOLLYWOOD—The city of West Hollywood announced in a news release that on Tuesday, August 1, community members will gather on neighborhood streets in a show of unity against crime to celebrate the annual National Night Out.

Block parties, barbecues, dancing, live entertainment and other things will occur in West Hollywood. Attendance is free. There will be limited street closures during National Night Out; these will occur on Tuesday, August 1, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. A list of events, times, and event locations is being regularly updated on West Hollywood’s website at www.weho.org/nno as the event approaches.

The year 2023 marks the 40th Annual National Night Out (NNO), which started in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, law enforcement, community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie – and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized against crime.

Nationwide, over 35 million people in neighborhoods across the country gather outdoors to celebrate their unity and their successes in the fight against crime. Celebrating National Night Out has been a tradition in West Hollywood since its incorporation.

National Night Out 2023 participants include members of the West Hollywood City Council, Neighborhood Watch groups, the West Hollywood Gateway, and West Hollywood’s Public Safety Commission and Russian-Speaking Advisory Board. Events will be held in coordination with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the City of West Hollywood.
