LAFD Battle Bel Air, Woodland Hills Fires

BEL AIR/WOODLAND HILLS—On July 1, the Los Angeles Fire Department battled 2 fires, one in Bel Air and one in Woodland Hills. The Bel Air fire was reported at 5:36 p.m. at 2624 N. Roscomare Rd.

First arriving companies report a 2-story large single-family dwelling with smoke showing from the rear of the structure.

Additional size up of an outside deck on fire exposing some grass and brush next to the outside deck. E109, E99 and LF88 handle the blaze. All other responding units were cancelled. There were no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At 7:30 p.m., officials arrived at a one-story single-family dwelling on 22700 W. Mulholland Drive in Woodland Hills. Firefighters found a fire out inside the kitchen and reported 1 patient that was medically evaluated and transported to a local area hospital.

There was no firefighter injuries reported, and arson was requested by the Incident Commander. No additional details on the Woodland Hills blaze have been disclosed to the public.

Hiker Rescued Near Mulholland Drive

MULHOLLAND/LAUREL CANYON—On April 2, the Los Angeles Fire Department rescued a hiker on Mulholland Drive.

The incident was reported at 12:28 p.m. at 8527 Mulholland Dr. near the Beverly Crest region. An adult female with 3 children (unknown ages or genders) requested LAFD assistance due to becoming “lost” while hiking a local trail.

LAFD Air and Ground units responded and located the group, whom were successfully and safely escorted to the trailhead on foot. There were no reports of any injuries.

Search For Alleged Missing Person At Caballero Canyon Trail Concludes

TOPANGA CANYON/MULHOLLAND—On Tuesday, August 5, the Los Angeles Fire Department conducted a search pertaining to a possible missing person.

The incident was reported at 8:17 a.m. The LAFD Ground and Air performed a comprehensive search of remote terrain near Caballero Canyon Trail north of Mulholland Drive in response to a mountain biker reportedly hearing (but not seeing) someone they believed to be a “older person” repeatedly “calling out for help.”

By 9:45 a.m. after a comprehensive and systematic search by ground and air of remote mountain terrain on and near the Caballero Canyon Trail north of Mulholland Drive, no person was found.

The LAFD responders formally concluded their mountain area search. No other hiker or mountain bicyclist in the vicinity reported hearing or knowing of a person in distress, and the LAFD has received no reports of any person missing in the region.

Person Rescued After Falling From Cliff At Stone Canyon Overlook

BEL AIR/MULHOLLAND—On Friday, July 25, the Los Angeles Fire Department had to rescue an individual who fell from a cliff.

At 4:24 p.m. officials received the call of someone falling more than 100 feed on 14200 W. Mulholland Drive in Beverly Crest at the Stone Canyon Overlook.

LAFD Urban Search and Rescue team is setting up a rope system to lower paramedics to the patient for evaluation. LAFD Air Operations is enroute to assist as necessary.

Thanks to the efforts of 45 firefighters, one adult female was safely rescued from a perilous position on a hillside. The patient reportedly fell down the side of the hill after losing balance while peering over the edge of the hillside.

The LAFD Urban Search and Rescue crews set up a low angle rope system to safely move the patient up to street level. The patient was transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation.

Brush Fire Battled On Mulholland Drive

WOODLAND HILLS—On Friday, September 13, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported a brush fire in Woodland Hills. The fire was first reported at 6:19 a.m. By 6:50 a.m. the LAFD indicated the blaze was contained at 22000 W. Mulholland Drive.

Firefighters surrounded the vacant building, ensuring there was no extension to the brush and allowed a controlled burn of the remnants of the vacant structure. There were no injuries reported and no further updates anticipated in the incident.

Hiker Rescued Near Mulholland Drive

STUDIO CITY—On Sunday, August 18, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that at 7:31 p.m. they assisted in the rescue of a hiker at 8521 Mulholland Dr.

The LAFD Ground and Air Response rescued a fatigued but uninjured teen male hiker in steep terrain within 122 acres of Fryman Canyon Park.

An LAFD Rescue Helicopter has lowered a Flight Paramedic to assess the patient, was hoisted along with the LAFD Flight Paramedic into the hovering helicopter for transfer to a safe landing location at a nearby fire station. There were no reports of any injuries. No additional details about the incident have been disclosed to the public.
