STUDIO CITY—On January 8, at approximately 8a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department Valley Bureau responded to a call of a vehicle that had been driven over a cliff at 8529 Mulholland Drive. Multiple first responders from other stations assisted with the rescue effort. According to the LAFD, a patient was extricated from the vehicle and hoisted and transported by LAFD Air Operations to a local trauma center in serious but stable condition. Rescue companies and Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) remained on the scene to remove the car from the cliff. Motorists were encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On July 23, at approximately 9:20 a.m. the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) West Bureau responded to a call of a fire on the second floor of a three-story apartment complex located in the 1800 block of Cerrito Place.
The following information came directly from the LAFD website, alert page:
“144 Firefighters used a well-coordinated fire attack operation to confine and extinguish the fire unit of origin.”
LAFD personnel were able to safely evacuate the residence with no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
Firefighters successfully rescued two cats that are reportedly, “Being assessed and treated outside the complex. Animal regulations have been requested,” and were, en route to take over care of the animals at the time of LAFD’s report.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On June 12, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) West Bureau responded to a small brush fire at the base of the ravine at 3038 N. Runyon Canyon Road. According to the LAFD Alert page, the fire was close to Runyon Canyon Park. There was no structure threat.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., LAFD updated the status of the fire. The first 20 LAFD firefighters to arrive at the scene were able to hike through the brush to the remote area of the fire and contain it to a 50 x 50 area within Runyon Canyon Park.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 45 minutes. There were no injuries or structure damage reported. No evacuation was required. According to reports, Firefighters remained on the scene into the evening to establish the bare soil perimeter and extinguish any burning embers.

WESTWOOD—On April 22, The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), West Bureau, responded to a call of smoke coming from the roof of West Wilshire Residential Apartments located at 10401 W. Wilshire Boulevard.
According to the LAFD website’s Alert page, firefighters first on the scene discovered that the smoke was coming from the elevator room on the roof of the 11-story apartment complex of building 18.
The fire was fully extinguished in 20 minutes. LAFD reported the fire, Incident # 1384 was out at 6:18 p.m.

PACIFIC PALISADES—On December 16, at 4:43 p.m., Margaret Stewart reported in a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) press release that LAFD Air Ops found two small brush fires that were approximately 30’ x 30’ areas located in the vicinity of 2200 Sullivan Road, near Murphy’s Ranch.
LAFD Air Ops initiated air drops that extinguished most of the flames while additional firemen worked on foot to gain access and cut lines around the perimeter. There was no structure damage reported.
An update was posted on the LAFD/Alert webpage at 6:53 p.m. The following information came directly from the press release.
“After water drops knocked back the fire, firefighters reached the burn area by ground. They cut lines around the perimeter and conducted mop up operations to ensure all hot spots were out. The two-hour operation is now complete.” LAFD West Bureau responded to the call.
