GRIFFITH PARK—A pair of outdoor classical concerts is set to occur on September 26-27 in Griffith Park. Classical pianist Hunter Noack will bring his touring series IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild to Bronson Canyon, near the Bronson Caves. Noack will play his 1912 Steinway Model D piano just below the Hollywood Sign. The site has historically been known as a major filming location for western and sci-fi movies.

The concerts are being done in partnership with the nonprofit Trust for Public Land, which helped permanently protect the hillsides around the Hollywood Sign. Both Noack and Trust for Public Land hope to bring new audiences to classical music by holding the concerts in an avant-garde venue.

According to Noack, “The music is shaped by the light, the weather, the trees, and the movement of people through the landscape.” Audiences will wear wireless headphones and will be free to wander the area instead of being stuck in traditional seats.

The Griffith Park concerts are part of an 11th-season tour of 50 outdoor classical piano concerts across the United States and Canada. Ticket prices begin at just under $50 and can be purchased at inalandscape.org. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the show starts at 3 p.m. for both shows.
