LAFD Battle Apartment Fire In Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS—On Thursday, May 21, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported battling an apartment fire. The incident was reported at 8:54 a.m. at 14248 W Dickens St. First arriving company reports a two-story garden style apartment building with fire showing from a second-floor unit.

Approximately 80 firefighters achieved full extinguishment of the fire in 2 hours and 34 minutes. Heavy fire was confined to one unit on the second floor of an apartment building. Adjacent units have sustained smoke and water damage.

Two patients were transported to local hospitals. Patient one is a 69-year-old female in moderate condition, being treated for shortness of breath (possibly due to smoke inhalation). The second patient is an adult male, unknown age or disposition. Seven units/apartments were impacted by the fire. Three units have been deemed uninhabitable. Eight adults and one child have been displaced.

Red Cross is on scene providing rehabilitation and support for the victims. Two dogs were rescued by firefighters, who provided first aid. The canine’s owner took possession of dogs for transport to the vet. No injuries reported to fire department members.

LAFD companies will remain on scene for an extended period of time completing thorough overhaul procedures. LA Building and Safety are assessing structural damage and compromise. LAFD Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.

LAFD Battles Apartment Fire In Westwood

WESTWOOD—On Monday, April 20, the LAFD battled an apartment fire in Westwood. The fire was reported at 4:01 p.m. at 1250 S Midvale Avenue. TF37 on scene reported a 4-story apartment building over 1 sub-floor parking with smoke showing. Fire attack teams confirmed a surface fire on the roof. Approximately 40 LAFD personnel were on scene.

Knockdown of the fire transpired at 4:19 p.m. Fire attack teams confirmed a surface fire on the roof and quickly used a drop bag operation to get hose lines in place for control and extinguishment of the fire. There were no reported injuries during the blaze. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed to the public.

Apartment Fire On Orange Drive Extinguished By LAFD

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Friday, March 27, the Los Angeles Fire Department battled a structure fire at 3:27 p.m. at 1255 N. Orange Dr.

Firefighters arrived in defensive mode to a 4-story apartment building with light smoke showing on the 3rd floor.

Firefighters located and knocked down a fire in one unit on the 3rd floor in 15 minutes. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Apartment Fire Extinguished By LAFD

SHERMAN OAKS—On Saturday, December 27, the Los Angeles Fire Department announced they extinguished an apartment fire that transpired in Sherman Oaks at a 4-story modern apartment building.

The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. at 15024 W Moorpark St. A total of 52 firefighters located a fire smoldering in the wall adjacent to a fireplace chimney.

Within 36 minutes, units were able to open up the wall and contain the fire, with no spread to adjoining units. There were no reports of any injuries, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

LAFD Battle Apartment Fire In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Sunday, April 13, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported battling a first-floor fire at an apartment building. The incident was reported at 1:34 p.m. at 5901 W. Gregory Avenue.

First arriving companies quickly extinguished fire in 1 unit on the first floor of a 3-story apartment building, then noted fire extended into a wall. Companies on scene are currently ensuring full knockdown.

Rechargeable scooter noted in fire unit — HazMat specialists are attached to manage disposal of lithium-ion battery. One patient was being assessed on scene who is listed in fair condition.

By 2:03 p.m. firefighters reported the fire was reported extinguished in 28 minutes with 47 firefighters on scene. HazMat specialists remain en route, with no anticipated escalation beyond the apartment unit involved. No additional details about the incident have been disclosed to the public.

Apartment Fire In Westwood Extinguished By LAFD

WESTWOOD—On Thursday, March 20, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that they battled a structure fire.

The fire was reported at 5:26 a.m. at 542 Glenrock Avenue. Officials battled a 5-story apartment building with heavy smoke coming from one unit.

Companies made access to the unit of origin and adjacent units to check for fire extension, achieving knockdown in 25 minutes with 34 firefighters on scene. All occupants were evacuated and there were no reports of any injuries during the fire.

LAFD Extinguish Vacant Two-Story Apartment Fire

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Thursday, June 6, the Los Angeles Fire Department extinguished a fire at 1:48 a.m. at 1765 N Vista Del Mar Avenue.

A total of 32 firefighters took just 19 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish flames within a small abandoned and vacant two-story apartment building.

The fire was well involved by the time the LAFD arrived on the scene. There were no reports of any injuries during the blaze. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Fire Erupts At Sherman Oaks Apartment Building

SHERMAN OAKS—An apartment fire transpired in Sherman Oaks on the 1400 block of Magnolia Boulevard on Sunday, November 12 that left a man injured.

The fire was reported at 7:44 p.m. Firefighters located a small kitchen fire in a 2nd floor unit of a two story garden style apartment building. They quickly extinguished the fire and transported an adult male patient in serious condition with various burn injuries. LAFD Arson is responding for the investigation per protocol for a burn injury.

The victim, whose name and age has not been disclosed sustained burns as a result of the fire. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustain. The LAFD were first alerted of the blaze after a 9-1-1 call at 7:31 p.m.

The exact cause of the fire has not been disclosed to the public and is under investigation.
