HOLLYWOOD HILLS—The Los Angeles Fire Department reported on Friday, September 18 that flooding was impacting the Hollywood Hills region. The incident was reported at 2:01 p.m. at 1925 N. Wilcox Avenue.
There was a partial hillside collapse with damage to one residence below the hillside — unconfirmed cause. Crews on scene were coordinating to stabilize the hillside and safely evacuate an apartment building on Grace Avenue (above the collapse). There were no injuries reported. The LAPD and LADOT are assisting with scene management; LADBS requested for structural assessment
LAFD fire crews and USAR teams shored the building below and dewatered a pool above the hillside. A total of eight apartment units were evacuated. Reported source of flooding and hillside collapse was a garden hose, overflowing the pool above the hillside for an unknown amount of time.
All residents were evacuated by LAPD and were later released to return to their homes. LADBS red-tagged the pool area (drained by LAFD) and portions of the damaged structure at the base of the hill. There are no further LAFD updates expected. Approximately 7,000 gallons of water were saturating the hillside.
