BEVERLY HILLS—On Oct. 10, 2017, Violet Yacobi, a wealthy widow who lived in Beverly Hills, was found near the base of the stairs to her mansion by her family members, and she was dead. The Beverly Hills police assumed the cause of her death was either a suicide or the result of an accident but a year later, her son Daniel Yacobi was arrested and charged with her murder. On July 21, 2025, his trial began, and he has now been convicted of murdering his mother.

Although he pleaded not guilty at his trial, the prosecutors believe his motive for killing his mother was that he would inherit half of his mother’s estate, which was 12 million dollars.

On the day on which Violet Yacobi was killed, he parked his car behind his mother’s mansion and then strangled her.

The sentencing hearing will occur on October 3. Daniel Yacobi may be given life in prison without the possibility of parole.
