WEST HOLLYWOOD—Although Fanny Lapkin was born in Mexico, she was raised in Los Angeles. Despite her plans to become a pediatrician, she instead pursued a career in law enforcement and on August 17, she was appointed to be the new captain of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.

The reason for appointment is that the station’s previous Capt. William Moulder is away on medical leave.

Captain Fanny Lapkin began her career by volunteering at the sheriff’s station in East Los Angeles. After seven years, she joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy, and she was first assigned to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station in 2019 when she held the rank of Sergeant.

In her new role, she intends to address the homeless issue in the city, including the fact that some of the homeless do not want to leave the city. There are other issues facing the city that she intends to tackle. That includes short staffing at the West Hollywood Sheriff Station, as well as speeding and traffic collisions on Fountain Avenue.
