SANTA MONICA—On September 2, the Santa Monica Police Department announced that it is currently accepting applications for the SMPD’s Fall Community Academy, giving community members an up-close look at the people, technology, specialized units, and resources working to keep Santa Monica safe.

Over the course of the Academy, participants will:

-Step inside the SMART Center and see how technology supports public safety
-Meet some of our special four-legged partners, including our K9s and Mounted Unit horses
-Go behind the scenes with our Forensics team
-Head out on the water aboard the Harbor Patrol boat
-Meet officers and members of our specialized teams
-Ask questions and learn directly from the people who serve Santa Monica every day

It provides an opportunity to experience the SMPD firsthand and learn how the different parts of the department work together to serve the Santa Monica community.
