MALIBU—The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station will be hosting its Tip-A-Cop event on Tuesday, November 11. All tips will go to the Special Olympics.

Deputies will be servers during the Tip-A-Cop event that will be held at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe located at 28128 Pacific Coast Highway. The event will transpire from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community,” states the Special Olympics website.
There are over 200 million people with intellectual disabilities around the world. The goal is to reach out to every one of them—and their families as well. Special Olympics does this through a wide range of trainings, competitions, health screenings and fund-raising events.
The Special Olympics create opportunities for families, community members, local leaders, businesses, law enforcement, celebrities, dignitaries and others to band together to change attitudes and support athletes.
