HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Wednesday, July 9, the Los Angeles Fire Department battled a fire on a freeway overpass. The fire was reported at 3:16 p.m. at Universal Studios Boulevard and Hollywood Freeway.

The fire was deep within a concealed space inside the freeway overpass, a bridge of concrete construction above the freeway. The California Highway Patrol was also on the scene.

By 5:30 p.m. the LAFD reported they extinguished the stubborn fire involving rubbish and debris compartmentalized deep within the concrete bridge structure infrastructure.

Though there is no obvious structural impact from the flames, Caltrans will be responsible for any assessment or remediation required.
