SANTA MONICA—Lt. Lewis Gilmour of the Santa Monica Police Department informed Canyon News via email that they are actively managing an ongoing incident following a shooting near Santa Monica Place at 4th St & Colorado.
Santa Monica Place has been cleared and orders to shelter in place have been lifted throughout the Downtown area. The suspect remains at large, and a coordinated search is underway.
The suspect has been described as a Black male in his 30s. He was seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and black pants.
Anyone who recognizes the individual or see someone matching this description, do not approach—call 9-1-1 immediately
An officer from the Santa Monica Police Department sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for medical care, where he remains in stable condition.
