PACIFIC PALISADES—On Wednesday, December 11, the owner of Ralph’s Grocery, located at 15120 W. Sunset Boulevard, filed a lawsuit against the food truck vendors who operate in the 15100 block of W. Sunset Boulevard, adjacent to the grocery store.

Of those food vendors, Rudy Barrientos, the owner of Gracias Señor Taqueria truck, who made his living working in that block for the last decade left his post after continued resistance from Ralph’s. Ralph’s Grocery Company is an entity of Kroger.

In January, Barrientos reported that he received a cease-and-desist order from Ralph’s Grocery forbidding the employees of Gracias Señor from using the restroom, shopping, or entering the store. Reports indicate that the owners of Ralphs threatened legal action if Barrientos did not move his food truck, claiming his patrons were disruptive.

The food vendor was parked on a public street in a spot with a parking meter. There was no court order to move the taco truck. Barrientos reportedly moved his taco truck after the owners of Ralph’s began sending armed security guards and lawyers to his business.

Rudy Barrientos has since moved his taco truck to Alma Real Road and has indicated that he hopes his loyal customers will follow him.
