BHPD Investigates Incident At Mr. Chow Involving Jamie Foxx

BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Police Department investigated an incident that transpired at the Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills on Friday, December 13.

TMZ reported that the incident in question involved actor Jamie Foxx, 57, who was involved in an altercation with another party that left the actor injured and requiring stitches. The actor was at the restaurant with his daughter’s celebrating his birthday which was on Friday. According to reports, Foxx is recovering from the incident, after a glass was thrown at him.

The BHPD sent an email to Canyon News discussing the incident. No identification of the parties involved was disclosed in the media release.

The BHPD indicated at approximately 10:06 p.m. on Friday, they responded to a reported possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.

Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded. Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties.

The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. There were no arrests made. The Beverly Hills Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to investigate this matter.

Foxx recently celebrated a shindig earlier in the week with a ton of other celebrities. It was to highlight his new Netflix comedy special, “What Had Happened Was” where he discussed his near-death experience in 2023.

The actor acknowledged that he suffered a stroke and that his baby sister was responsible for saving his life after seeking another opinion from a doctor after thinking he was just suffering a headache.

Foxx is known for his role on the comedy sitcom “The Jamie Foxx” series, as well as roles in the movies “Collateral” and “Ray” which he earned Oscar Nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor. Foxx would win the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Ray Charles in the biopic “Ray” in 2005.

Foxx posed the following message on his Instagram page Saturday night:

“The devil is a lie. Can’t win here…thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness… but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright… and huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by “What Had Happened Was” … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul…”
